Member Spotlight: Clark & Maria Blakeway

What inspired/inspires your love of theatre and the performing arts?

We both come from backgrounds where the performing arts were a way of connecting with our local communities…from participating in college band to attending community theater, local concerts, and dance performances. The cultural, storytelling and emotional aspects of the performing arts are so impactful. We’ve been season subscribers to the Center’s Broadway Series since the opening 2009/2010 season. We love experiencing live shows where every performance is unique.

Why did you choose to join the Center Circle membership program, and what motivates your continued support each year?

We want to support the AT&T Performing Arts Center in continuing to strengthen the DFW community by encouraging creativity and access to the arts for generations to come. We love the recent focus on broadening the programs at the Center to engage new audiences and really take advantage of their indoor and outdoor venues. We’ve attended several recent outdoor events and festivals and they are wonderful! There really is something for everyone at the Center.

Do you have a favorite performance or experience while visiting the Center?

Holidays at the Center are special. Everything from the Moody Foundation Chandelier to the trees on the Center’s campus are lit in holiday colors. The annual Reliant Lights Your Holidays event is magical with a Christmas drone show, fireworks, and live music with a definitive Texas flare. Where else can you get a pic with Santa Armadillo???
