Artists Who Give Back

In April, the Center was honored to host Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Samara Joy for an exclusive Q&A with 72 talented Jazz musicians from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Samara shared insights into her artistic journey and personal inspirations and responded to students’ questions about pursuing their passions as artists. The Q&A came about when Samara was in town for her Spring 2026 album release tour at the Winspear Opera House and made a surprise appearance earlier in the day at a student performance in Sammons Park. The Center invited the students to her sound check to enjoy a special private performance and get autographs and a group group photo with the artist.
