AT&T Performing Arts Center To Present Free Concerts and Events to Mark 15th Anniversary

The Center will commemorate 15 years of shaping the stage for Dallas to thrive with free fall programming

(DALLAS) – The AT&T Performing Arts Center today announced a slate of free events commemorating the its 15th anniversary. The events will take place from October to December 2024 on the Center’s campus and in the Dallas community.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 15 years of bringing the best of performing arts from across the nation and the globe to North Texas,” says the Center’s President & CEO Warren Tranquada. “The Center is a beloved and integral part of the Dallas Arts District, and we’ve been honored to serve our community in so many ways. These free programs are just a small token of our gratitude for years of support from our community.”

The Center’s 15th Anniversary Community Concert Series will feature free performances by a diverse range of groups and artists. Events include special concerts in Annette Strauss Square featuring country star and Grammy Award nominee, Mickey Guyton and the hip-hop, bluegrass band Gangstagrass. The series also includes elevated signature community events — Latinidad, Brass and Jazz in the Park, and Reliant Lights Your Holidays.

The Center has also launched a 15th anniversary raffle with five great packages that include trips to New York and Denver, a luxury staycation, and a customized Center “girls’ night” experience. Brief Center History

The AT&T Performing Arts Center opened in October 2009 and featured celebrations including special performances in the Margaret McDermott Performance Hall and in-depth tours highlighting unique features of the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, Annette Strauss Square, and Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park. The Center helped to fulfill the 40-year vision behind the Dallas Arts District. Its iconic buildings provide stages for a diverse range of performing arts, including Broadway, music, the best of world dance, comedy, speakers, new and emerging arts groups, and the work of its five esteemed resident companies.  The Center also provides a wide range of free arts education and community programming, servicing thousands of people of all ages annually.

Join us Friday, October 4, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. for a free concert featuring GRAMMY nominee Mickey Guyton.

Capitol Nashville’s Mickey Guyton raises the rafters and distills emotion with impeccable clarity. Her high notes thrill, her nuance in storytelling captivates. A star for our times claims her place” (NPR). The four-time Grammy Award nominee and 2022 TIME Breakthrough Artist of the Year Guyton released songs “I Still Pray,” “How You Love Someone” and “Somethin’ Bout You” following her critically acclaimed 2021 debut album, Remember Her Name. Most recently, she unveiled her latest singles “Scary Love” and “Woman” to maintain her momentum in 2024. She will grace the Strauss Square Stage on October 4, 2024 for a FREE concert!

 

 

Latinidad Festival

Join us as we celebrate our third annual Latinidad Festival on October 5th, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. in Sammons Park!

Experience the many cultures of Latin America brought together by the Hispanic communities of Dallas-Fort Worth and beyond. See Sammons Park transform into a mouth-watering food market. By the donor pool, our Community Stage will be active with our opening performances. When the sun sets, head over to Strauss Square to see 4 incredible acts as they immerse the festival with lively Latin music and light up the night with vibrant folkloric dancing. As you take a seat on the Strauss lawn, you’ll see artisanal vendors selling beautiful jewelry, clothing, and art, curated to catch your eye and be taken with you after you depart. Join us as we expand from the success of last year, opening more of the campus, including more activities, and most importantly, reaching more of the community.

Gangstagrass

Join us Friday, October 18, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. for a free concert featuring Gangstagrass.

Gangstagrass is a multi-racial collective of musicians who demolish every preconception you have about country music and hip-hop music. These string pickers and MCs create a shared cultural space for dialogue and connection between folks that usually never intersect. The boundaries are gone and Gangstagrass is out there doing things nobody thought would work — but when you hear it, you know, down in your soul, that it does work. Gangstagrass is here to help us party together with an irresistible blend of America’s rural and urban music traditions.

Brass and Jazz in the Park

Join us as we celebrate our third annual Brass and Jazz in the Park on November 9th, 2024 from 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at Mattie Nash-Myrtle Davis Park in West Dallas.

Crossing Borders and Connecting Cultures, this year’s festival celebrates young performers — the future of jazz music. Attend this free community event featuring: Live Jazz, Jazz Dance, New Orleans Brass, Black Mardi Gras Indians, Louisiana cuisine, family art activities and a New Orleans Second Line! Curated by The New Orleans Original BuckShop. Brass and Jazz in the Park is part of the ArtsBridge – Powered by Toyota initiative. Bring a blanket or short lawn chair to this family-friendly event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Reliant Lights Your Holidays

Join us as we celebrate our 12th annual Reliant Lights Your Holidays on December 7, 2024 in Sammons Park!

The free and festive event presented by Reliant with live entertainment sponsored by The David M. Crowley Foundation will be held on the AT&T Performing Arts Center campus from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. featuring live music, thousands of LED lights, real snow, free photos with Santa brought to you by Lexus, free miniature golf on the Reliant Putting Green, food and beverages for purchase and a drone show!
