Mac Welch Presents
Lungs by Duncan Macmillan
The Elevator Project
In this award-winning, contemporary play, a young couple find themselves examining the scope of their lives together and the world around them when they begin considering starting a family.
“Ten thousand tons of CO2. That’s the weight of the Eiffel Tower. I’d be giving birth to the Eiffel Tower.”
Lungs starts with a couple’s first conversation about having a baby that carries them through the rest of their lives together. It’s funny, it’s challenging, and it will have you nodding along with your partner through all the big questions and frustrating moments of a relationship that lasts a lifetime. Director Mac Welch and Movement Director Emily Bernet take on this complex script about relationships, family, and our impact on the world just months into their own marriage with a fresh, physical approach to Duncan Macmillan’s pared-back play.
The Elevator Project is supported by the Theodore and Beulah Beasley Foundation.
