Featured in documentaries like The Eye of the Storm and A Class Divided, as well as on The Oprah Winfrey Show, she has received numerous awards, including the National Mental Health Association’s Award for Excellence in Education. Since the mid-1980s, Elliott has dedicated herself full-time to diversity education with corporations, government agencies, and universities across the globe.


Jane Elliott has received numerous accolades for her work. She was presented with the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education and was listed by McGraw-Hill on a timeline of 30 notable educators alongside figures like Confucius and Maria Montessori. Her work has been featured on numerous television programs, including “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Today, Jane Elliott continues to be a prominent and outspoken advocate against prejudice and discrimination.

The “Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes” exercise was documented in the 1970 ABC documentary “The Eye of the Storm,” and later in the 1985 PBS Frontline documentary “A Class Divided.” These films brought her work to national and international attention.

After leaving her classroom teaching position in the mid-1980s, Elliott became a full-time diversity educator, conducting her exercise with corporations, government agencies, and universities around the world.
