CENTER ANNOUNCES BOOKER T. LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES IN SAMMONS PARK

“Sammons Lunch Jam” To Feature Student Ensembles, Free Thursday Concerts from March 19 to April 23, 2015

The nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center today announced the creation of a free lunchtime student concert series called Sammons Lunch Jam. The noon outdoor concerts will feature top performing ensembles from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. They will perform for picnickers, residents, artists, office workers, students and others enjoying lunch in Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park on the Center’s campus.

“We can’t think of a better platform for our talented young neighbors this spring than outdoors in Sammons Park,” said Doug Curtis, president and CEO of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, a nonprofit arts foundation. “These concerts really add to the sense of community in our rapidly growing neighborhood.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to give the Arts District a glimpse of what goes on at the school and invite prospective patrons to future performances and exhibitions,” said Scott Rudes, principal at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. “It builds on the great relationship we have with our neighbors at the Center and in the Arts District. We are excited that these concerts will be adding to the growing list of diverse and vibrant performances taking place in the district.”

Sammons Lunch Jam, supported by Neiman Marcus, will feature performances of music, dance and theatre, as well as the work of visual artists. Audiences can bring their own lunches or purchase lunch from the food trucks on campus. They can sit at café tables or on the lawn. The Center also provides free AT&T Wi-Fi and Ping-Pong tables.

Sammons Lunch Jam begins at noon March 19 featuring the singing ensemble, The Jazz Singers. A more detailed spring 2015 is below. Click here to sign up for email updates on Sammons Lunch Jam and more from the Center.
